For the past few weeks, I’ve noticed some loud chirping outside on our back patio. It hasn’t bothered me and the kids LOVE it. They run to the windows to catch a glimpse of the birds making the sweet noises. They are pretty loud, though. Sometimes, it sounds as if they are actually IN our living room. They don’t chirp for long, though!
A few days ago, I noticed one of the flying in and out of Sarah’s Rose Petal Cottage which is like a child size house tent structure that she used to play with in the house but we recently moved outside to allow her more room in the playroom. She hasn’t asked to play with it and it’s been fine on the back porch. It sits right outside our living room window. Well, this little bird has been in and out of the chimney of the Petal Cottage. The other night, I looked inside of the chimney and saw some leaves, twigs, etc. I wondered if they would be so brave as to build their nest right there at eye level on our back porch!
Well, they are!
This morning, there have been 2 of them. They are adorable and they have been working SO diligently all morning flying to and from the cottage with their supplies that nature has provided for them to build their nest. We can stand in our living room and look right at them as they are working. I am able to take photos (without a flash) of them as they bring in their finds. They are talking to each other and it amazes me that they must have a language all of their own.
They are completely unaware that we are watching them, which is great because we don’t want to scare them away. Sarah is in awe of this process! I explained to her that in a few weeks, there will be baby birds learning to fly in our back porch and back yard. We are willing to give up our time out there so that they may fulfill the life of their little family’s plans. It will only take a few weeks.

Sarah & Jason are going to mark a calendar with the dates that things happen for the birds. Today, they started actively building their nest. They have way more done than I do! I haven’t even made my bed yet and they are almost finished for the day! I guess the early bird really does get the worm! 
I look at them and wonder how anyone can question God. Just watching them in their work leaves no question that this truly is a miracle of which only GOD could do. I know it is not by chance or evolution that these creatures have learned to create a home out of pine straw and twigs and dead leaves in which they can lay eggs and raise a family to go out on their own in just a few weeks! What takes us nearly a lifetime takes them only a few weeks. Just the fact that the trees lose their pine needles and leaves and twigs and they fall onto the ground and they still have a purpose is amazing. Imagine if none of this happened. What would the birds do? God took care of them in something we dread. Pine Straw.
If you live in the East Texas Pineywoods, you know what I mean! Most of the year, the pine trees are green and glorious and then they turn brown and blanket the land with a mess that is not fun to rake or clean. However, what to us may not seem like “a miracle”, I’m sure to the little wren, it is a true lifesaver!

Take time today to enjoy your surroundings. No matter what they may be, realize that what is one man’s trash, could be another’s treasure. Think about the purpose of things around you. Even the things that seem tedious or annoying are sometimes miracles as well. I will keep posting as the birds finish their nest, lay eggs, hatch baby birds and teach them to fly!
