Back to Work....

Well, I have been staying at home for almost 2 years with Sarah & Jason doing "nothing" as some people may say. Yes, that was me, laying around watching soap-operas, getting mani/pedis & sipping hot tea all day! LOL NOT! Well, it was everything I thought it would be....and SOOOOO much more! Endless moments of fun with my children, being able to actually keep my house clean and spend time doing things with my family and friends and working my tail end off trying to keep up! haha Staying home is rewarding and yes, you may get a nap every now and then, but it is still very hard work and sometimes it is not very rewarding. Sometimes, everyone forgets that you do everything for them and you feel like you're being "taken forgranted", which you are sometimes. Not purposefully, but it happens. Sometimes, you just take care of everyone with such ease to their eyes, that they forget you are actually doing things for them. The cleaning, cooking, bedtimes, ironing, laundry, errands, homework and so forth just seem like things that "happen" in every day life. Everyone else just knows these things will be done and that it's not their responsibility because "you're there and you take care of all that." Working moms get a double dose! They get to do all of these things AND work full time jobs which in most cases are also very demanding! I am adding myself to that list as of Monday. I am going "back to work". Yes, it is funny saying that. It's as if I'm saying I've been on an extended vacation from all responsiblity! If only that were true! haha I am excited about this new chapter for me and for my family! Yes, some of the workload will have to be shifted and everyone will have to pitch in and do "their" part around the house...but they have been pretty spoiled since I've been home, so I think we can handle it! Todd is excited about me working because he knows I am happy when I am working and we will have some extra money which we could always use. (I'm not sure if he has realized he'll be recieving a "checklist" on Monday or not, though! haha) He's always willing to help me if I ask him, though! It will be fine.

I had really quit looking for a job and decided to wait until Sarah started pre-k in the fall. A few days ago, I got a call from a Doctor whom I had interviewed with a while back for a "receptionist" type position. I have a friend who works at his office and she had set it all up so I went. I didn't hear anything from that position, but a few days ago, he called and offered me a position I couldn't refuse!

Their office recently went "automated" with the laptops for the Doctors to carry in to see the patients with their charts in the computers. They are trying to go "paperless". He needs someone to be in charge of making sure their systems are up to date and keeping up with getting all those charts into the system. Basically, scanning the old ones in, etc. The best part is that I get to make my own hours. I chose to begin working from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. so that I can still have the same schedule with Jason for school and Sarah can go to dayschool from 8-3, which works out GREAT! She is SOOOOOO excited!

One of my friends owns a preschool center and she will be there with someone who knows her and loves her. She had gone there before when I worked and Jason also went there when he was a little tike! She cannot wait until Monday! I will still be able to pick her up in the afternoons and get home by 3:15 or so to wait for Jason to get off the bus and start homework, dinner, etc. which is a perfect schedule for us! During the summer, I plan on changing my schedule to something that allows me to still spend time with the kids in the afternoons swimming, going to the park, etc.

I feel like this job will be a blessing for me and our family. Sarah has been begging to go to "school" lately. She just longs to be around other children. We go to church on Sundays and Wednesdays now so that is her only time to be around other kids in a group setting. She absolutely loves it, so I know school will be great for her. We took a little "tour" the other day and she was very happy with what she saw.

I will keep my blog updated still! I will still have lots of free time, just not in the middle of the day. :)
